I own and operate a printing company. Actually a trade printing company, (company which produces work for other printers.)
I print millions of envelopes a month. Boring, unglamorous, and sometimes dirty. I wear my watch to work sometimes but take it off almost immediately once I start. The type of equipment my operators work on are of the highly industrial type, mechanical, and very heavy. I wouldn't take much of a bump or bang to seriously scratch or damage the watch. |

jobs----what we do for a living
International lighting designer/electrical consultant (electrician) family owned business (founded in 1947 in NYC, started by my grandfather carried on by my father and passed on to me).Main office NYC-- branch offices Miami,Fla.( personally I don't care for the left coast, did a few jobs in L.A. and found "people are strange" [imho]), Athens,Greece (no i'm not.-- Itialian/American born and raised in "Da Bronx") for all European ventures. Plus homes in all three cities. What i drive--- NYC M/B C240 4matic wagon,Miami Mustang GT conv. and Athens Alfa 159 Sportwagon. Clients-- upper scale can't mention names because I want to keep them as customers(some have become personal friends). Work this year uhmmm let's see--NYC Jan till June, Miami July Aug Sept (one of the most beautiful penthouses i ever worked on plus the owner wanted it ready for "The Season" in Miami), and now i'm in Athens until March?(right now i'm home and bored, job is shut down until after the Holidays I'm sorry but they work really really slow here it drives me crazy) then back to NYC. Watches( I have a small wrist ironic for a watch lover) I wear mainly Tudor Mini Subs for work (1SS & 2TTs) I love them I don't care what anybody says Rolex,Vacheron,Hublot and Pattek for the evenings and special occations. HAPPY HOLIDAYS to ALL From NYC Toytimer

I have been a foreign currency trader for a top 5 U.S. bank, and an engineer for Apple Computer. Currently work in a small family business (my family) in the textile industry. I can do anything from sales to heavy maintenance, and I wear a GMT-II or GMT-IIc everyday.

Anyway, the difference is not in wearing a Rolex or not.
If I see somebody wearing a Patek, or a Breguet or a Vacheron COnstantin, this will tell me something about the person standing, not if he's wearing a Rolex. A Rolex is expensive but not THAT expensive. |

I run (for my boss) a custom audio video integration company in the NY Metro area. Basically, our company installs toys into the houses of the people that buy the Platinum DD's  Crestron audio, Lutron Lighting and shading, etc....
NYC Toytimer, if you do lighting design, we should chat. We do Lutron systems for our clients in the NY metro area. Heck, we might already work together! |

I work as a network administrator for an IT consulting company whose clients range from blue collar to white collar. And I just don't sit at a desk in the server room either...I provide desktop support as well which means crawling under desks at times. So I'm basically the IT guy.
Only one person at one of my clients noticed my Rolex. No one else notices or if they do, they haven't said anything. Some of my coworkers know I have a Rolex, but they're not surprise. You may say I'm the anti-computer geek since I'm usually pretty well dress and don't really live up to the stereotype in terms of behavior. Seriously, does your IT person wear a Rolex, writes with a Montblanc, wears custom dress shirts and drives a BMW or does he/she not care how they look, spew technical jargon that gives you a headache and looks at you if you're an idiot? My hobby is photography where I've done some paid jobs doing band promos/concert shooting and family and event portraits. |

As my log-in name suggests, I'm in the aviation field. Aerospace Engineer to be precise (pun intended). I work for the largest aerospace company in the world. Lots of aviation photos in this thread already. I've been relocated to China since 2004 and hope to re-patriate in 2010. The overseas assignments are great for us single folks... My avitar shows my company provided house in China.
