What do you guys find TRF most useful for?

I love talking about watches and sharing pics and info with other watch guys.
I don’t have any other sort of social media. Never been on Instagram, Facebook, etc.
I am a private person, but really enjoy sharing here. Unfortunately we had a security scare last month that really spooked me. I decided I was going to have to give this place up to make sure my family was as safe as possible. But wound up with a different username so I’m still here but a lot of you guys probably don’t recognize me.

Most of the reasons I’m here have been covered.

One of the reasons I like TRF is it is well moderated. No overly snarky or rude commentators are tolerated for long.

Draining when somebody is being a jerk to a poster.

Stuff that you would never say to someone’s face.

Appreciate that we all stay cool to each other and if someone doesn’t well they don’t last here for long.

Kind of, yeah.
I'm not currently in the market for a new watch (yet but it's coming) so I'm not spending a lot of time in the watch forums but here in Open discussion I'm rubbing elbows with some mighty interesting people with interesting and exotic hobbies and locations. There are some things we have in common and others not. I use the expression that "I collect interesting people" and I stand by that as this forum has some of the most interesting people I'd never know.

TBH, I love the open discussion.

This forum has filled my free time when I might otherwise be wasting time on typical social media. Here I can interact with more like minded people from all over the world and learn a lot about a hobby I’ve enjoyed since I was a kid. I appreciate all the time the moderators put in to ensure this place is friendly and inviting to all.

Aside from watches and everything that goes along with them, I like the hearing the opinions of folks IRT other things I enjoy, like coffee, travel, bags/clothes, cologne, etc.

If you’re willing to throw down the kind of money, it takes to be in this hobby, you likely are willing to do that in the above mentioned areas as well.

It makes for some interesting reading that I find value in.

When I first came to TRF, it was to learn about watches. Now I think the Rolex section has the highest ratio of crap to good content anywhere on here. So I tend to enjoy this section, the PP section and the Other Watches section because for the most part there is interesting content without the snarky comments or trolls.

I am sure the mods do a good job, although it's hard for me to know. But I have been absolutely shocked at a few of the seemingly benign, unassuming, nice posters who are no longer welcome.

I only wear one nice watch, which is currently being serviced <sniff sniff> and am unlikely to buy another anytime soon. So it's not really to gather info about watches I won't buy. But there is a very very nice, well informed group in the sections I mentioned above and chitchatting with them or getting ideas on something has been really enjoyable.

It's important to me that the world knows that I know everything about everything. TRF and other forums let me do just that. Primarily, it involves letting people know that yes, that watch is Clown Shoes Level too big for you.
