A belated happy anniversary for your GMT and the Restoration Atelier.

Look forward to their “separation” after restoration.

The ironic aspect is that once you have it back, at least from outward appearances, it will look the same as it left your home.

But you will have the satisfaction of knowing it’s in perfect internal working order with a pedigree.

Sharing details of the conversation with Rolex in public here is not going to accelerate the process, the contrary. Rolex in Acacias follow this thread …

I don’t think the OP’s intent was to accelerate anything by sharing his find originally (for which 99.99% are grateful). His updates have been respectful and aimed at explaining the delay in Rolex’s final verdict to inquiring minds.

Of course, in short: Rolex does not like that clients publish details about such an important timepiece, which they are studying now for authenticity in Geneva.

Along the thread the OP has posted photos from the Rolex reception at HQ, photos from the documents he received there … I am convinced that this is not helpful for him.

Therefore I wrote "Sharing details of the conversation with Rolex in public here is not going to accelerate the process, the contrary. Rolex in Acacias follow this thread …"

We all wishs him the very best, but, in his position, I would not have created this thread despite the fact that it is very interesting for all of us to follow.

Thanks. Acacias is the Geneva district where the Rolex HQ is located, the same place of the so called Heritage Department.

I see the point @saxo3 makes.

Let’s stay in spirit he mentioned - hoping for the best for the OP, @Erpin.

If it weren’t for members who find the rare unicorn or two, and then present it to us with transparency, this would be a less helpful forum.

My wish is we all stay forward-focused in a positive frame of mind.

I have been lurking on the forum for a few years now and after reading this thread I had to register just to say I really hope this turns out the way we all want it to. Fascinating story so far and the most interesting watch I have read about.

The watch was auctioned by Sothebys Hongkong but the winning bidder did not complete the sale.

Recently, or way back in the past?
Are you referring to the OP's watch?
Or another white dialed GMT?

Please share the link where you saw this auction. I don't see a white dial GMT in any Sothebys I can find.

I assume he was just trolling, but if by some miracle, the OP has actually seen a silver 1675 in an auction, I hope he will post a link.

Not sure but I think I´ve read something about it but can´t remember the verdict.

However, the engraving looks vintage but patina can be recreated so who knows.

Guy joins forum, on same day posts one comment with no evidence and no follow-up on a post about an incredibly obscure watch. And then vanishes.

For the avoidance of doubt, is it your premise that @Erpin is stringing us along? Or Rolex is stringing him along

Somebody stringing somebody, that’s for sure. I thought it was OP stringing us, but now I think Rolex is stringing him. What do you think?

I am usually skeptical because so many people foist false narratives upon us here. But I believe the OP is genuinely sharing a unique find of his.

So I wouldn't say "stringing" - the pace of new information is slow but...

I believe OP is working to get authentication and Rolex is working in their restoration atelier at their pace.

Patience will be required - especially when "1-post wonders" come along and stir the pot...

You’re right in saying that the Rolex Heritage dept will work at their own pace especially if it’s a unique watch like mine. So i have learned to be patient and just hope for the best.

This is well said. I share your typical skepticism. Here, it does seem like there is a legitimate inquiry, and Rolex is taking an unbelievably long time.
