Service for Datejust

I have a Datejust 16013 that needs service. It was last service in 2015 by a local watchmaker. Has run fine since, until a few days ago. Now it does not keep time (the hands don't move). Using the stem I can move the hands, but that is all. I can't wind the watch or change the date. It has not been dropped or otherwise damaged that I know of. The watchmaker who serviced it before says it will cost $895 for standard service, plus whatever else it needs. Others (not in my area) say about $500. They all say it might take a long time (up to 6 months). I would appreciate any recommendations as to where I should (or should not) send it.
