I would advise nothing less than a full service. A modern professional model would start at $850.This covers the cost of replacing most movement components and some case & bracelet components as needed. You can forgo refinishing and save $150. I suspect a watch of that era would at least need a crown at $48. A crystal might be required or offered as an option for $135, same with hands at $120.

Those are the common things I estimate for on an Explorer II of that era. Prices are USD and should be the same at ADs and RSCs.
