Also agree about the increase in scams, yet governments don't seem to care nor enforce any laws much nowadays unless it benefits.... If you really and truly want to get off the 'Carosel-O-Fun', you gotta get off the grid.
Honestly PADI, have you considered living on a ~50' Cat and sailing the world? It's very easy to live a 'nomad' lifestyle globally. Since you're retired, you have the freedom to enjoy your life as you desire and to the fullest.
