I've often wondered what the responsibility is for someone playing in a nightclub or any venue that charges money as to the use of popular songs.
Is there any royalties for the music? I'm guessing not but I wonder why not. Both you and the venue are making money off someone else's songs.
I've always been curious where the financial line is drawn.
