Interesting thing is that when these watches were sold, $3000 was above sale prices, so a mint example has actually exceeded its original value.

There are a few watches, the 2254.50, the Ti-Tan-Rau SMPC, the SMP America's Cup, and the recent Liquid Metal Planet Ocean that have all exceeded their MSRP on the used market after being discontinued. I know there's a common theme that Omega's depreciate hard, but really, its not always the case. If you bought a 2254.50 or a LM PO, you've done better than most 16610 Submariner owners on long term resale.
