Its a beast of a watch and a beauty to boot.

I think price dependant, you probably did right going grey if you couldn't source it through an AD.

However the fact that you managed to pick it up grey with all stickers on is the crux of the problem and simply proves that all ADs are not playing the game and indeed are part of the problem.
