Hopefully if this continues I’ll make it out to one as I’d like to meet many of you. Having said that, I’ve been on the receiving end of “last man standing” at a few non watch events where 4 figure bar bills suddenly appear. I’ve tried to transition to a separate bar bill for myself as 1. I don’t drink all that much and 2. When I do it’s usually expensive single malt that others shouldn’t have to cover. Having said that, as noted above, some have gone bonkers on booze thinking what’s the big deal, it will be split over 20 or 50 people. I won’t be one of those people. What my company does for events is usually all beer and a fixed wine selection, no paid alcohol just all the food, or all in but with a limited bar. No $900 bottles of wine or $3000 bottles of scotch. One place sets up a separate bar for us and if you want something else you just go to the main bar and pay yourself.
Easy to solve all with transparency, disclosure of expectations, and personal responsibility.
Hopefully this isn’t the end of the line.
