The 11.59 is so universally maligned, mostly by people who have not touched or viewed the watch in the metal. After handling a time-only version, I can say it's much better in person. I think the sonnerie, perpetual, and tourbillion are excellent in every way. The time only and chrono, however, I still find uninspiring. I hate the chrono btw.
I have to wonder, perhaps it's a generational play by AP. They are playing the long game. Yes, the simplicity of the dial design reminds me of DW. But DW is an incredible success story. They are crushing it. So maybe the target audience isn't the current watch buying generation (say 30+), but gen Z. Those that buy DW watches today will one day buy the Code 11.59.
