mbuckley you are correct is does mean "thank you". You might also hear a very common term in Hawaii which is "aloha" Aloha has various meanings. The most common is greetings, say like good morning. or blessing or even a good bye.
Examples:
Aloha Members, Today is terrific.

or

Aloha from Kauai,
Tom

Many way so use aloha.
