TBH personally i think none of those are OK or any less desperate.

I still dont get the silly game people play with Rolex. I have my Air King, and its probably the only Rolex i'll ever get because im not prepared to 'play the game', but at least i have my dignity intact.

There's nothing more pathetic or un dignifying when trying to buy an aspirational, luxury good which marks an achievement in life than grovelling to a salesperson to get a wrist trinket....

Fair enough if you want to cut out all the BS and go grey because its a rare or discontinued piece but a lot of the time people just need to take a step back and give their head a wobble.
