Well, no high beat mechanical watch ticks once per second. Modern Rolex movements beat 28800 times per hour, which works out at 8 times per second, which gives the impression of a sweep. Unfortunately, that's no guarantee of a genuine Rolex - if you do your digging on replicas, you'll see that they are upping the ante on their deception. On another note, the only movement with a perfect sweep hand motion is the Seiko spring drive range.

My best advice is to actually hold one in your hand, play with it, examine it under a loupe. Once again, best place to do it is an AD
