Agreed the 14060M is more of a niche product than the rest of the current line up. The main difference to your car analogy is that the sub isn't some retro reproduction; it's the current incarnation of a watch that has been in production since the fifties. It also doesn't retail at a premium over the sub date in the process; the reverse in fact.
