Until the 1920's it was standard for dials to be branded by the jeweler if they were branded at all. Supposedly Tiffany stamped their own dials so that's why you see those up into the 1990's.

I've read that the Khanjars and such were also stamped by the import agents at the time instead of being done at the Rolex factory.
