In the end, 30m is plenty good for Open Water (18m) and Advanced Open Water (30m) divers which represent a majority of recreational divers, who will likely still be using a dive computer in parallel. Even free diving won't be limited by 30m so I actually find that it's totally respectable ASSUMING that Patek has elevated the 30m standard to be inclusive of diving requirements.
Honestly, was always a little cautious taking even my 120m Aquanaut below snorkeling depths and have not dived with anything other than those rated as 200m Professional so this would be a nice feature, just need to be clear and provide the right education and guarantees!
