Converse Skull wall at Santa Monica store

Just got back from 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica and saw this inside a Converse store (went there to check out their new Chuck II). Thought it was pretty cool. The entire wall is made out of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. Lots of people were taking snapshots there.

If you can't see it then look with one eye closed.

I first walked right past it and my wife told me to look. I looked but saw a huge mess on the wall and couldn't make out a skull until I took a few steps back.

For me it was just ok.. didn't see any huge improvement over the original Chuck. Maybe it's just something marketing ploy. I guess I'll wait for Chuck 10.

I haven't worn cons for years, I should pick up a pair of high tops.

Never really got the whole infatuation with 'skull art' so many people seem to have.

I haven't worn a pair in probably over 30 years (I'm turning 49 this year). We were just there because my wife was looking for a pair of sandals for our trip to Thailand next month. I'm more of a Nike Air Jordan fan myself... wanted one when I was 15 but couldn't afford it back then.

I bought a pair last week.

I actually think that the new version is a huge improvement. I had some Chucks maybe 5 years ago, but I still remember how they felt. The canvas on the new ones is softer and has a nice lining on the inside. The insoles, though, are the biggest difference. They are very soft and easy on your feet. There is zero break-in time.

Glad to hear you like them. It just doesn't do it for me but I'm biased.

You should try the store near you. They might have some in stock.
