Would you trade a 5513 for 126610LV? I think they are about the same in value but a nice 5513 is not easy to find.

No way, unless you're just bored and don't wear the 5513 any more.
That's a nice-looking Sub. Very nice patina. A modern Sub is always gettable. Also, I don't understand the appeal of the ceramic green Subs. The original LVs were kind of cool, but the ceramic green doesn't look right, IMHO. |

Probably not, but I do see the value in a very cool variant of a new Sub that could be beat on a bit more without the worry. I suppose it depends upon your wearing habits.
Aesthetically similar, but so different really. I suppose that goes without saying however

going against the grain, I just unloaded the most beautiful 5513...in quest of something else. This watch for me fell under the " watches I should have" category, vs Watches I love to wear. It was a wonderful example with glorious patina but it just sat there. I was at the time obsessed with getting one.
I am starting to re balance my collection from watches I should own to watches i love and will wear.

Your nice 5513 looks like it doesn’t get a lot of wrist time.
A modern Sub is a go anywhere do anything kind of watch meant to be worn. I’d trade. There are more than 500 type 5513 for sale on chrono alone … not exactly what one would call rare so can be easily obtained in the future again.

Vintage versus modern
I was at my AD yesterday while they put a Swiss Rivet 1967 bracelet on my 1962 1675 GMT and we were talking about watches, and I said one reason I went from modern watches to vintage is I wanted something not everyone has. I also have 4 British sports cars I drive alternating, just as I alternate my 5513 and the GMT.
I said to my sales guy who I have known 30 years that you can get modern Rolexes anywhere but the vintage ones can be hard to find in great condition. |

I love, love, love the patina on the dial, but the pearl in the bezel does not match. If it's not fully original, I would go with the LV.

Well, when looking at a 126610LV, the market price is very clear.
When looking at a 5513, the pricing is all over the map. And you will probably never be certain of its provenance and the originality of its parts. So that is a difficult trade. |
