Fun facts about Dogs...
We lost our Sealyham Terrier (in my avatar) this month, but yesterday we picked up a Wire Fox Terrier puppy, and got no sleep last night.
Damn little heartbreakers.... Some fun facts about dogs, these amazing little critters.... https://www.rd.com/list/dog-facts-you-didnt-know/

Also, I’m very sorry to hear about your loss.
These creatures are more than just dogs to many of us. They are part of our families and day to day lives. I’m sure the new Terrier will become that and more. |

Thanks Brian, and Norma.
We still have one Sealyham, (we generally have 2 dogs) and we had a Wire Fox 10 or so years ago. I love Norma but she wouldn't fit in our pet door.

Very sorry that you lost your dear pup. The new puppy will surely keep you distracted as you adjust to life without her.

Fun fact … the Fonze was 14 and never knew how to sit, do paw or even his own name ..
But was 1 in a million .. Sad day when he went ..

Sorry for your loss. Had to put my rescue down a month ago and it still hurts like Hell. She was 17.6 years old and she was 12.5 when I rescue her. She immediately integrated with the family well and got along with my other dog whom we raised from 8 weeks old. They passed away one year and one day apart.

Sorry for your loss.
We also love Terriers, something magical about them, so much spirit and character, in a pint size body. We lost our beloved Parson Russell Terrier in 2018 which was a tough few months, as the kids had grown up with her. Fast forward to May 2019, we were on our way to collect our new Puppy, a Patterdale Terrier. Gorgeous pup, but the strongest prey drive of any dog I've ever met! Enjoy your new pup, and hopefully the night times become a time of rest again soon! |

Thanks everyone. We've had Miniature Schnauzers, Sealyhams and Wire Foxes and it's true there is a great deal of personality and fight in the little buggers. Bred for killing rats and vermin in Europe.
Back in the day my wife took our Miniature Schnauzer to obedience classes and was eventually dis-invited back. Our dog Schatzi, whom we called Field Marshall Schatzi because whenever she saw another dog, she puffed up her chest and demanded to know what they were doing in 'OUR" neighborhood. The fun facts about dogs link I posted is fascinating on how they can track from fluffed off skin, how they can see and smell so incredibly, and how loyal they are.

Maybe he/she just lets you think they're the co-pilot, when in fact they're the pilot.

We have an 11 year old Frenchie, who’s eyes are just starting to cloud, who displays the early stages of dementia, but is still the heart of the family!

Lol. My good old boy is nearly 14 and doing very well by all accounts with the same afflictions and at the same level from what i can observe. We walk him off lead at night when it's cooler for him and is full of vim and vigour but it's questionable as to what he can actually see at times, he also zones out and drifts off into his own little world at times, also prone to being deaf(when it suits him), but he's always been good and the neighbours think he's rather amazing with how well he responds to verbal and non verbal commands all things considered. He's always had this habit of sort of being weird and creepy around bushes and lingering in and under the low branches at night. That behaviour is getting worse and increasingly bizarre as he has got old and he does it while lurking under the hem of my wife's skirt now. One wonders what the appeal is with it But he's harmless enough even if a little strange with it all |
