PP 5167A Comfortability

I'm thinking about getting my first PP. Being a sports watch enthusiast, I have my eye on the 5167A. Is fold-over clasp comfortable? I've had many fold-over/deployant clasps that were quite uncomfortable (sharp edges, odd shaped, etc.). How about the tropical composite strap comfortability? How does the 5167A fit a thin 6.75" wrist?

IT's a super comfortable watch and strap is fine.

If you're a sports watch person you might find the size small, but it's comfortable for sure.

First Patek I owned as well long ago...good one to jump into brand.

Very comfortable watch. Super light at around 80 grams and strap is great. Be sure to cut it on the loose side and wear it for a week or so before trimming it down more, if at all. Many people, myself included, over trimmed and had to buy another strap

Just what I want to hear! 40mm is my ideal size sports watch. I currently have a SubC, which is my only sports watch at the moment. The 5167A is thinner, but that's ok. Nice, low profile.

Thanks for the feedback. Yea, I've read that about the straps. Does PP offer the tropical composite straps in other colors?

Definitely the most comfortable watch I've owned...very light and the strap is quite comfortable. The rg version comes with a brown strap, and I believe you can order a green strap as well that I've seen fitted to the ss version

Properly fitted the comfort is beyond belief. Having said that, one needs to plan the sizing for wear during different seasons of hot and cold weather or in case your weight is subject to vary. Most people size the strap to wear just a touch loose rather than real snug for this reason as the strap and buckle are NOT adjustable once the strap is cut.

It's extremely comfortable. The key is to make sure the rubber strap is cut evenly when you are originally sizing it to your wrist so that the fold-over clasp sits perfectly in the middle of your wrist.

Can confirm. Super comfortable. Don't notice I'm wearing it until I check the time and get super happy about it. I also have the bracelet. It's comfortable but definitely much heavier than the rubber.

Have it myself, and it's amazingly comfortable. I think Tim does the best reviews - this Youtube link is worth a view, as he probably will answer a lot of questions you have.

The Naut is the most comfy but the Subc has the glidelock so more versatile. The 44 probably needs a smaller strap which I will get around to buying next time I'm in town.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Now I'm deciding if I want to plunk down the cash or not. If so, I'll be going pre-owned. These seem liquid and like cash in the bank at the right price.

I haven't seen this piece in the flesh and tried one at a local PP dealer this morning. OMG, I love it!!!! Beautiful watch. Delightful proportions...nice case diameter at 40mm, thin at 8.5mm and light. Super comfy rubber strap and double deployant buckle. I have the funds, just determing if I want to spend this amount of cash or not. Hmm, decisions, decisions...

This is THE most comfortable watch I have ever owned and i've owned a few..
Also the dial, the dial! I am a little obsessed with how it changes with the light.
IMHO one of the best looking watches in real world sunlight

Just what I want to hear. I'm obsessed with this watch and I don't have even one in my hands, yet :)

I found the clasp to be on the thick or bulky side relative to the rest of the watch. I also found the the closing mechanism exhibited metal fatigue in relative short period of ownership (less than 2 years.)
As a result the clasp would occasionally open when it wasn't asked to.

Sorry to hijack, but I have a 2014 model in for service at Patek due back soon. So it will be LNIB and I intend to keep it factory sealed which was the point of the early service.

I might be selling as I have an eye on a couple other Patek acquisitions.

Let me know if interested.

Most folding clasps (deployments) I've had were fairly similar in regards to thickness or bulkiness. It was never a concern for me. But I do get what you are saying. Why doesn't a thin profile watch like the PP 5167A have a slimmer folding clasp? I've never had one malfunction. The PP folding clasp is a piece of art though!

I am interested in the 5167 as well, the difference is small with preowned, I am thinking of new to experience the BT treatment.

On another note, I read in Asia the PP dealer catalogue offers 6 colours to the tropical strap including white, purple and blue. Can anyone confirm their availability?
There is also another PP rule, 5167/A cannot purchase 1A separately. If one prefer both tropical strap and bracelet , the 1A must be purchased and /A tropical strap with deployant to be added as extra.

I had two faulty clasps on my 5167's that were replaced... albeit reluctantly by HSWA. Nothing beats the Rolex clasp IMO.

very comfortable....but noisy rotor. Although I loved the comfort I just couldn't deal with the noise as the rotor moved around. Ultimately I sold it. Still miss it sometimes.

Anyway, just make sure you try that out before you buy.

Didn't realize there was an issue, thought it was just mine.

Super comfortable, take your time to adjust the rubber, one too much cut and no way back

slightly off topic, but when you manually wind the 5167, is it normal that it makes a borderline "grinding" noise? I love the rotor noise, but a bit scared to manually wind the watch due to this. it will "grind" all the way up to the point where the crown screws in.
