I have a Blue SMPc 3rd gen (waveless) and a current generation white dial SMP.

I love them both.

But man, does anyone else love the last generation a bit more? I like literally everything about it more than the current generation, except for the movement (I love 8800 in the current generation.)

Smoth, waveless glossy dial, which I feel is more "mature." Smaller HE escape valve (which isn't needed anyway.) More subdued bezel, making it a bit more versatile. Much smaller and more manageable clasp.

I'm on the hunt for a good shape black dial to match my blue.

Long live 3rd gen!

I prefer the 2nd gen that DC wore in Casino Royal over the 3rd. Wave dial, matte dial and bezel, and slightly thinner than the 3rd gen. I also prefer the white date disc on the blue dial over the black date disc on the blue dial.

I am big fan of the older gen. I just love the Bond 2220 and 2254.

For me, the 2254.50 is the best Seamaster.

I prefer the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generations over the new ones.

Tried one on with the intention of adding it to the collection, but was left feeling pretty underwhelmed by it.

I do. Back then I was doubting between 2nd gen or 3rd gen Seamaster
I think the black dial for the 3rd gen (SMPc) holds up better over time. Even today my 3rd gen Seamaster still looks fresh

If I would have to rank them sofar as a top three

1.) Black waveless dial SMPc 41mm (3rd gen)
2.) Blue wave dial SMP 40mm (2nd gen)
3.) White wave dial/black bezel SMP 42mm (4th gen)
