Just like the first day...

I bought an Omega AT awhile back, have been wearing it almost everyday for the last few weeks.

Yesterday I started wearing my TT DJ, the first Rolex I bought. Had not worn it in quite awhile. Before the SS sub and SS DJ were getting most of the wrist time.

But after wearing the TT DJ, I fell in love all over again. It was just like the first day I got the watch. Something about Rolex that is just so timeless.

Anyone out there on the fence about getting a Rolex, take the plunge. You won't regret it. 3 and a half years later I still love it.

I did the same, I bought a Panerai and never had it off my wrist. One day I put my TT Sub on and realised it was so good looking the Panny has not got a look in since.

I know what you mean. I've got that exact watch and I had occasion to wear it yesterday. I needed a slightly more dressy watch to go with the suit I was wearing and it fit the bill exactly. I really enjoyed having it on my wrist.

However, I have to admit, I'm back to my all black GMT-II today.

Icon10 amazing that...

I just don't seem to get tired of looking at Rolex watches. Some watches you get bored of and think about selling. Some just lose their appeal after a few months or years. But not Rolex. The best watch purchases I have ever made.

Uncle AJ, the TT sub is the crown jewel of my collection. It is spectacular in any color. (even black.)

Nothing beats the feeling of the first day you get a Rolex,it just makes you feel on top of the world.

I sometimes put my SD away for a few days and then bring it out again to try and re-live that special feeling. It's never quite the same but still good.

It is funny I am sort of opposite, I got bored with Rolex and after wearing the Panerai anything else, except my YM of course, feels small to me.

When I had the Omega, I would somehow always pine for my YM. When I wore the YM, seriously I really did not miss the Omega too much.

With TWO Rollies I guess I can never go wrong now!! My "Rolex Only" policy is foolproof for me!! LOL!!!

JJ, You had the Rolex policy once before. Then you bought the Omega PO.

Just wondering what enticed you to get the Omega PO. Was it just too good a deal to pass up? Because it was a new model, that is hard to get in certain areas. (like Japan).

Just curious.

Good question, Mark, and you're right on all counts. I was attracted to the uniqueness of the watch as well as the orange/silver bezel. And, yes, I did get an excellent deal from Mansor's...a deal which even shocked most of my American and UK friends on the other forum. Also the fact that many of them hadn't yet even seen the damn watch, whereas I already had it on my wrist.

I guess I made the right move to sell it off now before it depreciated even further.

JJ

PS: So it's definitely back to the "Rolex Only" policy...that's for sure!!

Haven't you learned by now that you of all people should never make such definitive statements like "back to the "Rolex Only" policy...that's for sure." How many times have you said things like that only to turn around 6 months later and reverse your position.

Do you remember the story of the boy who cried wolf?

And to slightly paraphrase what Shakespeare said: "Methinks he doth protest too much."

Some people can do the Rolex only policy. And for some it may be good. But absolutes can be dangerous, it closes all doors for enjoying anything else. If one states Rolex only and then say Omega or AP comes out with a beautiful and alomost perfect watch, then what are you supposed to do, pass on a great watch because it is not a Rolex?

There are so many watches out there to enjoy, who knows what is next. But if you limit yourself to Rolex only, Omega only, AP only, VC only, then you may miss out on enjoying some other very fine timepieces.
