Artisans de Geneve - Looking for advice

I have the opportunity to have my 1996 bluesy reimagined by Artisans de Geneve. I inherited this beautiful watch from my dad but don't wear it at all. The two-tone and blue is too flashy for my taste.

I am considering modifying the watch to bring it closer to my more subtle taste while respecting part of it's original design and doing some creative stuff to it.

Artisans de Geneve is willing to do it and I'm curious if anyone here has worked with them on a bespoke piece. What have you heard about their design service, timeliness, communication etc..?

Every post I've seen about them is about a limited edition, not their approach to bespoke pieces.

Rolex has managed to convince a lot of people that any modification makes the watch illegitimate. In my view, these guys do some interesting work. Would love to see the concept pictures, if available.

If it was anyone else I would say no. But those folks are like the AMG/M division of Rolex imho.

What are you thinking of? Hopefully something interesting. Because if it isn't then it really should bear their name.

Convert a bluesy into a black sub? Lol… they must be hard up for business.

I’m not a fan. Looks like a fake Rolex, not a haute horlogerie modification.

I would only go with their openwork watch.

I like the normal bluesy better than that concept shared. That looks like a cheap homage to me. Perhaps a real life picture once done would look better, though.

TBH... that looks awful. Grind off the crown guards, not sure what the dial is about, kinda like the bezel color...

I like the sub they did for paul watson. That's unusual and distinctive.

In my opinion that is ugly. I would swap out the blue for black and keep the originals. You can preserve what your dad wore too. I would not permanently modify a sentimental watch.

How long did it take for them to respond once you sent them your first message?

Excellent idea. Make it a black TT sub and save the original blue parts. Less flashy

If it belonged to your dad and he wore it keep it as is for his memory, I personally dont find the changes to be an upgrade here, and you can't undo it. While you dont wear the watch now you could still do so later and have it be a shared object and a connection to your dad.

The concept drawing is not an improvement on the original. It was your dad’s watch but it’s yours now. If it were mine I would sell it and buy something I really wanted instead. Better a watch that you love in memory of your dad than a watch that once belonged to him and that he would no longer recognize.

Based on the photo you shared as an example...leave the watch as-is.

If you want something that looks like your photo I am sure Invicta has something in the catalog that would be a close match. If not there is always Alibaba.

I think their vision on mods is amazing. I actually did their” uncatchable challenge” on my BLNR and it came back looking fantastic. It is VERY expensive however. I agree with other comments above to either keep or sell and buy something you want. The mod will prob cost in the range of $15-25k (and you may already be aware of this). Best of luck on your decision.

If you like it is all that matters. You are not going to sell it anyway.
These guys are doing some really nice mods.
I’d ask them to give it some more chamfering ‘Bexley style’ .
