Mistakes: Watches you had, sold, missed and bought back!

And how much money did you lose due to your mistake?

Cheers

I have yet to sell one.

But I think Dan2010 has done this once, twice, or was that three times?

Have never lost anything or made any mistake with watches, aways buy at the right price and mainly because I want that particular watch whatever brand.

Not huge catastrophes but wish I'd kept hold of these two,

I really like the old oysters and don't come across many with a black dial so do regret letting these two go. I particulary regret selling the bottom one which is a 1955 6422 (the top one being a 1963 6426) as I don't see many of these models. Not so much the money but just really liked them. Oh well!

Bought a Tudor Snowflake new in the mid 70's.

Flipped it for a used 5513 in the early 80's.

Flipped the 5513 for a new 16800 in the late 80's.

Flipped the 16800 for a new 16610 in the early 90's.

Had to sell the 16610 due to a $$ emergency in the early 2000's.

Picked up a pre-loved 14060 in 2008.

Lost $$ on all but the 16610.

Wish I'd kept them all now, of course.

jlc master grande taille...sold it for a little more than I paid for it, but to buy a decent one back now would cost another $1.5 - 2K.

I am pondering having this problem.

Ever buy a watch just to 'tide you over' until you got the one you REALLY wanted? And then gotten attached to the temporary (per se) one? I'm sure that's part of the question isn't it?

I originally wanted a 29mm version of the Omega Seamaster AT but couldn't find it anywhere. But I did find an absolutely gorgeous 36mm version of the same watch, so I have been wearing it. Now that I have the 29mm in hand, logicially I should get rid of the 36. But I don't wanna.

For now, I think I'll hold onto it. If the perfect used DJ that I want comes available for sale and I feel I just can't have that extra one, THEN I might sell it I think. Right now, so not motivated! And the Omegas are cheap compared to Rolex, so its not that big of a deal!

Suzy

I only had one mistake I bought a Bremont BC-F1 it's a beautiful watch but I just found it to be too dressy for me.

I only saw it in photos and ordered it online so when it came and I opened it I was underwhelmed. I wore it a few times but I just never fell in love then I tried to sell it and had no takers so I contacted the place where I bought it and they gave me a little over 50% trade in so I took the trade and got a more desirable watch.

Took a bit of a bath on it but I'm happy now.

Omega Seamaster Pro.... sold it to get a speedy pro and UPS lost the speedy pro on its way back from service and I ended up with a Longines Legend diver that I flipped for a Tudor Tiger (which I gave my brother for his college graduation). All in all I lost probably over $1,500 in the end.

The Seamaster was a great watch and I had it on the Omega mesh which really completed it.....but when the vintage bug bites he bites hard!!

If I did not sell all that I've sold since 2008 and bring them to market this year, I'll be thousands of dollars ahead!

I sold a 5513. I'm now looking for a meters first again. I'll probably have to spend $2000 more than what I did originally.

Sold my T series GMT Master several years ago. I had purchased it BNIB from an AD in Wichita and really enjoyed wearing it. Sold it and almost instantly regretted it. I even tried to track down my exact watch to re-purchase it but have never located it. To this day I keep my eye out for it in the hopes that I can bring her 'home'...

I have never sold a watch and don't intend to ....... Touch wood

But I did throw my first watch away last year which was an old and broken Seiko digital sports watch I bought for myself with my paper round money and gardening jobs when I was 15. Then three weeks later had deep regrets and trawled the web for a few months until i eventually found an identical and working piece for a whopping £95.

Funnily enough, it came from a UK website specialising in digital watches so could even be my original watch thrown out with the trash, reclaimed and rejuvenated. Hope so anyway

Yeah but he sold only three times.

Either way such large numbers are awful confusing.
