Explorer 40 Wait Time?

I’ve been waiting 3 months with no assurances from the AD. What used watch sites are recommended for a Rolex purchase?

Hang in there. An Explorer shouldn't take too long to arrive.

Asked for a 36mm Explorer in November, picked it up in March. First new purchase from this AD. I bet if I had made more in-person visits to this AD, I could've gotten it sooner.

Ask afew more ADs. Explorer 40 should be easy to come by with reasonable waiting time.

I’ll try a dealer that’s out of state. 3-months without a commitment that I’ll ever see a watch doesn’t seem right.

Just called. No luck. The dealer said they’re not allowed to sell outside of the immediate area. Also no stock.

Here in England, bro-in-law asked for an Explorer 36mm in Feb this year, he was called to pick it up last week.

Unfortunately there’s only one AD in my immediate area.

100% should've lied. The immediate area thing is pretty common. I doubt they'd remember your phone number, so many call back in a few weeks & try again, seemingly remembering that you now live 20min away.

Other than the most sought after pieces, it now appears that if one waits they can get what the want in short order. Also, my advise to those who have felt it was best not to turn down watches to build they relationship, be prepared to lose money if you decide to try and resale.
For again only certain pieces can be sold for a profit.

Went to Las Vegas for business last week and the day before I was going to leave went to the AD in Ceasar's and inquired about the polar explorer ii, tried on an exhibit piece. The representative had me fill out a card, have filled out so many of those didn't think much of it. Told her I would be leaving the next day, but if she could get one I would fly from NJ to Las Vegas to pick it up. I left and didn't think much of it. 5 hours later I got a text and call from a number I didn't know, but when I listened and read the voicemail and text, the voice mail and text said that she was the rep I had talked to earlier in the day from the Rolex store and asked to call her back. I called her, and she said if I could drop by the store before I flew back to NJ, she had the watch for me! I was able to change my flight for later in the day, and the next day I got to the store and picked up my brand new polar explorer ii!! Amazing!!!

~2 months from a major city. It’s a do all piece. You’ll love it!

Just got back from my AD. My first contact was off, so I talked with another person. He said they only get ~4 Explorer 40’s a year, so I should plan on waiting a full year to get one.

While was out, I visited another store and I can buy a Tudor Ranger “on sight” for less than half the price of an Explorer. I’m making myself wait a couple days before I buy, since it’s not my first choice.

If your budget is for this one watch, don’t settle. Wait…

Just my advice.

Just visited the AD today. There was an Explorer 36 in the window available for sale. Dependent on where in the world you are, the wait should not be too long. Alternatively buy grey and get it on your wrist immediately.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a Tag Heuer Aquaracer 300m, but otherwise, this purchase will be my only watch. I’ve owned my “Tag” for 13 years.

Trusted sellers here are a good place to start I.E. - Chase @ Nashville, or Thanh @ Takuya.

In terms of your local AD, should be doable with a reasonable wait. (I.E. - 6 months or less)

Depends from AD to AD. It shouldn't be a GMT or Daytona type wait time.

Thanks. Would like to become a member of “The Club,” but after 3.5 months of waiting, and with no end date, I find myself trying to talk myself out of the purchase.

I do like the looks of the watch, but the whole “marketing strategy” of Rolex is a big deterrent for me. I’d be happy to just order one and put down a down payment, if that was an option.

Ranger is a poor alternative. Dull. Lacks presence. Very basic in the flesh and doesn’t catch the light at all.

Explorer 40 are a lot less poplar than the 36mm so won’t be ages to wait (my UK AD told me this only last week as we were discussing my 36mm).

Don't settle for the Tudor Ranger. Wait for your Exp from your AD or buy from a trusted seller at close to retail and have it in 1-2 days.
