Becareful some rolex authorize dealer

Before you buy the Rolex watch, you have to check what is watch year. I bought at Benbridge Tucson on 2015, and seller gave me 2002 model with 2015 price. I spent for 2002 Rolex Datejust with 10 diamonds 12,000 USD. I feel upset with Rolex authorize dealer.

How did you conclude it was a 2002 model? Keep in mind Rolex sets prices...some models move quicker than others...diamond and PM models don't move as quick as SS. 15 years does seem like a long term me however. Did it still have plastics on it? Were there scratches from being handled?

Are you sure it is 2002 and not a 2015 with a random serial number that just happens to start with the same letter as a 2002 serial number?

With random serials, there is no way to tell the year a Rolex was made. And unlike cars, it is irrelevant.

All units in their inventory would get updated pricing. That being said, I don't think they'd have a watch for 15yrs. How many digits is the serial number? Does it have any letters in the middle?

In case anyone was wondering why Rolex went to random serial number - now ya know. Though I suspect this guy bought a random with a first digit letter corresponding to a Y serial or thereabouts.
