Winding stem pulled out

Today I unscrewed the crown on my datejust to set the time back according to the time change and the entire winding stem came out. :( Any advice on what I should do?

Other than stick it back in, screw it down, and take it for service? This happens sometimes, sometimes it's just that the retaining screw came loose, sometimes the stem has sheared. In either case, it's not a very difficult or pricey fix, but if you don't know what you're doing don't try it yourself.

Agree...

Older movements have a small screw that takes a quarter turn or so to release the stem and sometimes it comes loose.. it is a normal function to allow removal of the movement from the case.

Later models use a small push-button inside to release the stem and they don't have the same issues

As said. Push it back and visit your service. It had happened to me some times as well, nothing serious to worry about.

Set lever screw is loose if older model.

Thanks for the responses.

My datejust is a 1603 and was over hauled in 2011.

Any Idea on the cost to fix the issue, if it is as simple as tightening a screw?

Also, when removing the case back I noticed the gasket to seem kinda stretched and misshapen, would it be a good idea to request they replace it?
