Refinishing a Refinished Dial

Hey guys, I recently discovered this forum and the information here is great! I just have a question about my watch. My father gave me his old rolex a long time ago, the model was 6480 with a white dial that said "ROLEX" in raised letters with "OYSTER" and "SHOCK-RESISTING" written on it. Unfortunately, due to the patina on the dial, my father had the dial refinished by a watch restorer.

After restoration, the dial came out silver, had the wrong font, and "SHOCK-RESISTING" was misspelled without the dash. I went to an authorized dealer and asked them if a new replacement dial was available and they said no, but that Rolex can refinish it. So I just have two questions:

- Has anyone had their dial refinished by Rolex and how was the quality? I'm just wondering why people tend to recommend companies like International Dial, DialCraft or Bob Ridley instead of having Rolex do the job.

- And secondly, I don't have a reference of how the dial looked like originally. All I've found are some low-res pics of the same watch over the internet. How would a restorer be able to refinish the dial accurately the second time?

Thanks!
