I also take they them out for fine dining holiday dinner every year.

We are very friendly and they look after me.

Surprising to see the number of replies from people with a wildly different mindset/worldview. One could probably infer the political leanings of the people behind some of these comments.

If they get you a hard to get watch, and offer you nice service, there is no problem in a small gesture of your appreciation.

I work in sales and have been gifted countless bottles of wine/spirits/champagne , boxes of chocolates, handwritten cards etc (for good service). It’s not expected, but really appreciated.

That’s pretty narrow minded.

Keep in mind many ADs now pay zero commission unless it’s a precious metal, non sports model.

Don’t assume they get comm on everything

My SA recently delivered a Daytona with Green dial to a customer. He texted over a $500 gift card.

The SA didn't take it but suggested if he really wanted to get a gift a bottle of wine or something of the sort is allowed and appreciated. I like how that was handled. The SA said to me, "I did't say how much the wine could be either". In that case a $500 bottle would have been very nice!

I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt this is correct. Why would an AD not pay commission on a watch that is being sold?

Every AD is different but Considering how easy it is to sell Rolex watches of almost any type now, one can imagine ADs scrapping commissions for Rolex sales.

My Sales AD is not trying “to sell me something” as another RF member said.. They have plenty of takers. If you read my signature you will notice how fortunate that they trust me and allocate great hard to get pieces.

They just allocated my best buddy with a PM Daytona for his 60th ( couple of years ahead)

So I showed up with a cake for the whole team, and a great of champagne for the mgr and
for my great sales AD

Because "selling" most Rolex models is just an order taking and fulfilment process. No selling skills required - and boy does that show in some stores. One SA rings the customer to tell them their watch has finally arrived. Another SA might be the one who hands it over when the customer visits. A third SA, possibly not at the AD any more, originally put the customer's name on the wait list. None of this involves selling.

At my AD, it doesn't matter who the original point of contact was, who rang me or who handed it over. This is a sign that nobody is on a commission, although I don't have to guess. I've already asked. They get paid a good salary, work in a nice environment and get a lot of employee perks. Contrast this with my car dealer. The first SA who you deal with stays with you right through to delivery. That's because they get paid a commission on everything, even the stuff that sells easily. And they are incentivised on trade ins, discounts given, finance, insurance extras, accessories, and so on. From what they tell me, they don't get particularly good basic salaries, but they tend to earn a good overall income.

If the SA appears to own the transaction and other SAs don't slide in and out seamlessly, there is probably a sales commission being paid. Ask and they will tell you. Some ADs may operate a differential system where stuff that is hard to sell, or certain types of products, or certain brands attract a sales commission. Again, just ask. No need to make assumptions either way.

Bottle of wine if I'm picking something up. Some cookies for the staff room if I'm just swinging by for a cuppa and a chat.

For Christmas, my AD sent me a box of chocolates and $250 gift card for their store. I, in turn for Christmas, will buy my SA and his father (they are part owners) two bottles of 18+ year single malts. They treat me well - bought eight pieces this year and I turned down at least another six. I also purchased around $10k of jewelry in the same timeframe but it’s money I would’ve spent anyway on gifts for others. I’m all for spending money at a local family owned business.

I like to gift them a brand new sheet of paper with a list of names on and my name is number 1

The heading on the paper is “VIP call list for any hot Rolex that comes in”

It would be madness if “we” was an actual thing. In a forum with revolving doors, there is no we.

I for one have not witnessed such a topic before.

Actual madness is regularly hanging out in a busy bus station and complaining to passers by that “everyone keeps taking busses to the exact same towns.”

I do not have a specific SA. My last purchase was initiated by one I speak to regularly but never bought from, a different SA, new to me, put me on the list, a third called me after 6 weeks when they got a shipment and a fourth made the actual sale when I arrived. Oh, and I occasionally get gifts from them, not the other way around. I think it would be very awkward for everyone if I showed up with gifts and they most likely would not accept it.

That wasn't the question posed by the OP.........and yes...... I do give chocolates to the women SA's that have gotten me the Rolex watches I have requested throughout the years.

You got a problem with that, Scrooge????

If I had an AD I did a ton of business with who was already constantly selling me watches that were hard to get and giving me Rolex merchandise, I might.
