Day Date 2. I had ordered it as soon as it was released at the basel show but the moment I saw it in flesh had to return it. The original classic day dates proportions are ideal for a dress watch.

So far I don't have a watch that I regretted buying. Although each watch has its own imperfection in my opinion, the overall experience of each watch outweighs any complaints I may have.

A few examples come to mind:
Tudor Black Bay - I love the style of the watch but when I tried on on side by side with a Sub, it looked more like a cheap Seiko diver. I'm just not a fan of the matte dial on the BB Omega Speedmaster - The modern version with the giant black box kit. I love everything about the watch itself, but the bracelet it junk. I tried literally every possible configuration and could never get the bracelet to fit. Explorer II - I want to like this watch so bad because of it's toolish looks but something about it just looks really bland in person. There's a reason EVERY AD always has an Explorer II and Milgauss in stock... |

My biggest disappointment has been the blue TT Submariner. I love the look and like to see it on others. I kept it for a few years then sold it to a friend. It's just too flashy for me to wear. Sometimes you don't know until you try.

PP 5167 - very underwhelming, no wow factor
Rolex 216570 explorer 2 - Somehow the proportions don't work. |

I wouldn't go so far as to say I was "completely disappointed" but these watches didn't stay long in my collection -
PP 5167 - super comfy but I just got bored of the dial quickly and as others have mentioned - no wow factor considering the price Daytona 116520 black dial - very poor legibility but I will definitely pick up the new Daytona C in white IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar - shoddy movement, poor legibility A Lange Saxonia Dual Time - and all silver/white dial watches with silver hands due to poor legibility (ie, JLC Master Memovox) |

thought i was the only one underwhelmed by the 5167. had it for a few weeks then flipped it. find the 15202 much more compelling for not much more scratch.

Tudor Glamour day & date 56000. I foolishly convinced myself it would be like having a Rolex at a fraction of the cost. Did not buy sight unseen. After awhile, I realized the case was unnecessarily thick for a semi dress piece and traded it within a year.

Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Worldtimer. It looks awesome on the wrist, but the brand just doesn't do it for me. Since then I told myself to never just buy a watch on looks alone. Go for looks, but only look at brands you will enjoy wearing.

True, we all have different tastes. Still, it's an AP against a Rolex. Both metal cases. If the AP was 50-100% more expensive I could understand, but when they are almost around the same price...
Nothing wrong with the Daytona. But I think many people stare themselves blind only looking at Rolex when there's a lot of other good stuff out there once you get up in the $10-15k+ price range. |

Not sure this is all that fair a comparison. The AP RO you may be referring to is time/date only. The chronograph equivalent is nearly double. |

Owning the best perpetual chronograph movement in a perfectly designed case are important factors .Really like RO but a 4130 is marvelous. iPhone/Tapatalk

I tried on a Platona. Er, not sure I get the point of it, other than as a status symbol. It boils down to a very heavy Daytona. Pass.

That's a tough one - if I had to pick the SkyDweller would likely be it. I underestimated the size and ho w top heavy it appeared on the leather strap. the DSSD would run it pretty close with a Glashutte making up the 3 mistakes

Will burn for this... but given the hype I was disappointed in the Daytona C. Flipped it.

Panerai 312 - too thick and top heavy
Panerai 127 - looked great on the desk but not on the wrist. Weird. PP5712 - wanted one for years, got it, put it on, gave it a while, but nothing. Never connected. |
