100% on board with you. i wear this almost daily, have done for a year and a half. i do not worry about scratches or whonks. wore it biking the other day (on gravel roads; not particularly good for the movement to go mountain biking!)

they are meant to be worn and loved, and i’ll be buggered if i’m afraid to wear my favorite watch whenever i so choose.

I do not get the concern over scratches either. Your watch looks great and is aging very well. If scratches are a concern to a person, wristwatches are just not for them. They will suffer and worry to no avail.

I think the new flex is to show that you wear (scratch) the watches and not just keep them as safe queens.

I don't see much scratches on that one, just hairlines really.

how is it flexing to actually use something as intended?

Somewhat tongue in cheek but first it was status to buy a Rolex, then it was only cool to get one at retail price and the latest is to ‘use it as intended’. The assumption being that those buying a Rolex and babying it with stickers etc cannot really afford it.

Irony doesn't go down well on internet but take it for what it is.

Ugh. That would be like reading a Ferrari forum and someone talks about tracking their car, or taking it on a long trip. Completely inappropriate!

FWIW, I didn't think OP's post about actually wearing a Daytona and enjoying it was in such poor taste. I came || *this* close to saluting him for wearing his Daytona.

Daytona that has not been a safe queen

That’s awesome!!!!
I wear mine the same way

My Daytona-white has been my daily wear for 3 years now
I keep care of it but by no means is it babied

I go to work - office job
I work out in it when applicable (swim, spin class, treadmill, etc). When I do weights it goes in a small pouch with me
I shower in gym with it on
I go out weekends and nights
It’s usually my travel watch of choice but will also have a another too
I don’t sleep with it though

I’d say it’s 60-70% on wrist
With 3 to 4 watches taking up the other times

And it’s not about “flex”. It’s about wearing a watch because it’s a WATCH!

Safe queens and obsessive worrying of values seems like a boring new trend now. I wear and enjoy all of mine, I've had some bumps and bruises but im generally careful and have wrist awareness without trying.

Not a safe queen, I wear it probably at least every week for a few days since it was new March 2017 but I’m happy to say I’m not beating it up too badly!

Watch looks to be in great condition! I don’t see any scuffs or scratches that a cape cod couldn’t handle just curious, what is the worst battle scar you recall in that 2 year mark?

Congrats! Great attitude. 100% agree.
I am doing the same, using every day my watches.
Today BLRO is rockin' on my wrist.

All looking great guys! The hype aside, this is definitely my favourite modern SS Rolex! Love the non-bloated case (ahem Maxi cases), contrast of the dial with the bezel and the right balance of class and sportiness!

I smacked the clasp into a metal surface at a bar after having a few too many. It has also touched a few zippers, seatbelt buckles and actually barbells as well!

My post was not so much a flex, just to bring others back to reality when it seems to be every other post is about value retention, AD waitlists and then asking how to polish out that hairline. These are watches at the end of the day, and at least to me, they are meant to be worn and they are not investments. Anything I stop wearing gets sold eventually. Sure, I make some coin here and there on them, but that's a corollary benefit and not the primary purpose for deciding what I buy.

And of course, I just speak for myself. I take no issue with others who might leave their watches in the safe, or just look at them in the safe deposit rooms.

And as another note, I was not one of the lucky ones to get this one at MSRP. I paid a modest premium in early 2018 to another private collector, far less than what they sell for today. Paying that premium in retrospect was well worth it for all the enjoyment I've gotten out of it so far. I couldn't imagine paying a premium for something to not enjoy it. I did get a black 116500LN from my AD late last year, so it evens out in the end.

I haven't dented or caused deep scratches to it yet (knock on wood), but the PCLs are looking close to being brushed naturally.

Point is, is that these swirls and hairlines are a miniscule cost to me to enjoy the watch. I'm not thinking about maximizing every $ if or when I want to resell it, and the memories created with it are worth so much more than that.
100% agree on striking a balance. I have 3 pieces with PCLs, the others are brushed or jubilee. My TT GMT is full of swirls but no major damage. I wore it daily 3 years until I acquired a few more pieces. I worked at a desk and spent time visiting our manufacturing plants 40+ weeks per year all over the globe so it saw its fair share of non office environment. The others are developing their patina just not as fast because I have more pieces to rotate.
Like you, my joy of owning these watches comes from wearing them.

I would venture to say that when you get off the forums, damn near no one buys a Rolex and then never/seldom wears it. Worrying about future value is one of the biggest downsides to TRF. In my opinion.

I won’t mention how many days I’ve worn my Daytona in the last three years, as I am not trying to boast. But let’s just say that my old trusty DJ might as well be in a bank vault on the other side of town.
