No way I'd pay anything above sticker price for any Rolex (and indeed any other brand) model currently in production.

I think it’s the oversized clasp on the bracelet that is turning many off. In pics, it appears to take up almost the whole underside of the wrist. I don’t care for it, either.

Many incomings because Rolex had them stockpilled for months in Geneva with the delayed release and they are just now making their way to the ADs. Once the tap starts to slow down, I bet you won't see as many new subs hitting on the forums.

I’ve said it before, but the hobby is ruined to a degree for those that enjoyed it in the past.

I kiss the days of trying on a whole Bunch of watches before deciding which one to buy.

I phoned my AD for a OP41 and they were surprised that I wanted to try it first before I buy.

No way Jose. Tudor looks better every day...and not just because of the price.

The market will drop on these as styles change in Asia imho

Datejust is the current Best Buy imho. Picked up a 41 on a jubilee in the secondary market and am totally in love. Embarrassing good deal lol

I just commented about this earlier. Multiple watch guys I know, have finally reached a ‘breaking point’ with the brand, all in the last 6 months. Don’t know if it’s because paired with COVID, but they’re tired of the games with Rolex and moving on. A certain amount of hype is fantastic, but they’re really pushing the envelope now IMO and pissing off clientele, a lot of which are not new buyers but people who have wore them for years.

It does seem that they are taking the brand to even higher levels in a way which isn’t their fault as they are protecting the brand with this demand.

The issue I have is that for some of us (the old school types) it isn’t just glorified jewelry for SS, but actual function and daily use. The reputation is there because they are solid pieces of perfection for the daily grind.

That said, I am pretty content and do play the game but honestly don’t care if something takes a month or a decade to get. I like to buy new in my name so don’t go the grey route, until then I’ll enjoy them, but it does bother me that it’s so difficult to replace if something happens.

It’s not a pleasant experience being new to the hobby either.
That is unless you enjoy the ‘‘Rolex stainless steel experience’ when naively enquire into purchasing a sub

The majority of those enquires are unfortunately those that are after something purely for FOMO or the flex factor fueled by a new social media world.

If it’s a keen interest that one has a lot of ADs will come around. If not, then I guess the only option is to pay the premium if it’s worth it to you. Personally, it isn’t. Okay maybe max 15% or 20% if it’s really something one will enjoy for decades.

Imho there have always been watches that were hard to get. It’s just the stainless Rolex models turn now. Things will regulate...ebb and flow

At least I hope...

Glad I laid a couple in before things went nuts

As others said, for that $15K, I would be looking at another Rolex with some complication (e.g. GMT).

I usually buy used, so the AD would never see me other than buying or changing straps/bracelets. I have accepted reality that I wouldn’t get one at MSRP.

That said, I date Sub, I am perfectly content with my 14060M. Looks and runs fine. :)

No hate, though. More power to those that can support the overpriced market. I just don’t have the chips to play.

Let's re visit this subject in six months. When I look on C24 the US prices around middle $14k aren't bad considering you don' t know when you will get one for MSRP. Rolex may slow steel sports production and now could be the best secondary market price. as i said let's look again in six months.

The lowest price on the net has went down from $17’s to in the $13’s within 10-12 days. That’s very significant and shows the market doesn’t even know where it should be right now.

15% premium (tops) on Sub Date by February, book it.

15% isn't bad. That is basically state tax+hassle free tax.

I don't mind paying some premium as I don't have the relationship with ADs nor do I have the patience to wait for one at MSRP, but I definitely would not pay $15K for it.
