[QUOTE=Saijin;11731992]you're right, just spoke with the manager and he wants to invite me to visit and sit down with a rep for a day or 2.

I'm looking at the RO, sure they look good but I don't understand why they are the most popular.
I still prefer that code perpetual. It looks unique and pretty.

You really need to see AP watches in person. I was never a fan and since I don't have an AD around my area I never saw one in person. On a trip I visited an AP boutique and was blown away. On the wrist they feel and look very special! I'm excited for you! Report back your thoughts after the visit. Make sure to try on a RO.

Geezus christ... just saw the whole line up for RO.

they are really milking it with 100s of variation huh?

Fine, if I have to pick an RO, it'll be this: https://www.audemarspiguet.com/com/e...1220ST.02.html

https://www.audemarspiguet.com/com/e...1220OR.01.html

and this:

https://www.audemarspiguet.com/com/e...1225CB.01.html

I wonder how much these cost.

It’s a good thing you are more interested in the Code collection as those three Royal Oaks are ones that even long-time AP boutique customers have a hard time getting these days.

When you go to the boutique, stick with showing interest in the Code collection and be open to learning more about the brand. Try on some Royal Oaks, Offshores, and Codes to get a better sense of the different AP lines. There really is no substitute for seeing the watches in-person and trying them on. I believe the Code PC is very limited production, so that one might be hard to get as your first AP. You should be able to get a Code chronograph fairly easily though. Good luck.

I imagine APs policy is the same globally but speaking from experience here in the UK you won’t be asked to pay anything until the watch is in stock and allocated to you. Once the watch is in stock and they call you there is an expectation that you’ll collect within a few days, or if you’re busy with work you can pay for it and then it will be held for you for up to 30 days.

In the UK they can send it with a driver who literally arrives with a case handcuffed to his wrist. In the US I’m not sure if they use a driver due to the large distances, probably FedEx

White ceramic asking prices are $350-400k. "Plain" 26574 RO QP would certainly be the easiest of that trio (relatively speaking).

How come I'll have no chance? I'm not good enough to be a customer with them?

Same reason as any hard to get piece. Low supply and very high demand.

I wouldn't say "no chance" but there has to be some reason why they should allocate on of the ROs on your list to you, when there is long line of other customers willing to pay $80-100k MSRP for a watch that trades for 2-3x times the price on the grey market. I.e., what makes you special? Just having a few $100k to burn doesn't, in this context.

An existing relationship with the brand is very helpful but if you have the means to buy this watch then ask AP, there’s always a chance in life with everything.

Well, I'm planning to visit NYC store in the next few months just to chat and to get to know them. I don't commit to anything for the first month or 2 until I do my due diligence .

If I decide that I like the brand and that store is worthy of my business then I'll make some commitment.

From photos I still like the 11.59 QP . But we'll see when I see the RO in person, hope they have a few models to show me.

BTW, what do you think of Patek vs AP ?

Ah, come on, don't tell me our friend Saijin is trolling - it's not like he's asking what an appropriate discount for a Daytona as his first Rolex would be. Oh wait, that was his thread from earlier this year.
