Well it’s nice to see not much has changed on TRF while I’ve been on sabbatical

I have 0 posts and know literally nothing...

But I do hope there is a sense of normality in the market soon.

I heard a story years ago that Thai trappers would catch monkeys by drilling, draining, and stringing up coconuts. In a little hole, just big enough for the animal to get his hand in, the trapper would put in a peanut. The monkey would reach in the coconut, grab the peanut, and be unable to pull its hand out. Even though the monkeys could see the trappers clubbing monkeys, they would not drop the peanut and escape.

This might be my all time fav post on TRF. Guy joined the forum 9-years ago and waited until now to post this. Epic. Congrats brother.

The best part is that he perfectly sums up our collective knowledge of where the market and prices are going - we just don’t know. Anyone who claims differently is speculating, at best.

Wow...9 years ..that's probably longer than the pepsi waiting list (if it really exists). I like where things are going. The way stocks, crypto & everything dropping like flies, I don't think wtach market has anywhere to go but down. BIG DOWN!
The greys are stocked to their eyeballs & can decide not to sell, but hey, Rolex still makes 1 million watches a year. Tick tock!!

I went to almost all my country’s AD. One thing I noticed is that they actually have stock of most Rolex sports models. It’s mainly about how much you’re going to spend to get them. At least 4 different SA said the same thing. “Spend and you shall get”
I don’t believe there is a real shortage. It’s all manipulated by ADs, and I am not saying ALL ADs does this, but most.

It will be interesting to see how long they hold out. DavidSW will asking $26k for BNIB BLNR and $30k for BNIB CHNR. Those are both about $6k over current market, or 20-25%.

Helo? Front dest?

I'd like a wake up call when the bread and butter SS subs and Explorers, OP's and DJ's come down significantly.

And then que me for a big pot of coffee. I will need it.

David’s always asking over market, to be fair.

That is just his asking. I am sure people come along with trade offers or cash offers and a deal happens.

I have dealt with David several times before the pandemic craziness, he has always been accommodating.

David is the highest but the other 'big' grey dealers are also holding steady. I'm only seeing the private party listings here on TRF react to the market (I don't do Moda/FB yet)

NIB 116500 White Dial from a pretty trusted seller just listed for $41K in the classifieds.

Prices on most hot models are definitely off ~20% in the past month.

BLRO's were passing 30K and are now solidly around 25K and creeping below.

I would guess all ADs do this; it’s just yours are more transparent

I think this sort of business model isn’t going to be good for the brand. Fewer people will want to associate themselves with those shenanigans - particularly as the one getting exploited.
