VC and not even a question!
Rolex should only be compared to other upper mid tier mass produced makers such as Omega.
Vacheron is a top tier haute horologie maker, they are on a totally different level with simply no comparison

Interesting takes.

Agreed with getting the Rolex if it can be done at retail.

Anyone know what the VC costs to service, and how long a service takes?

I had to sell mine Panerai Luminor 10-days GMT PAM533 and Rolex Submariner Hulk 116610LV as I had to fund the purchase the BLNR at premium price of $21,790 USD in gray dealer.

VC is another level.
But you must have a Rolex GMT in the collection…

Given the current environment I completely disagree

If I have the opportunity to leverage a stainless steel piece into a precious metal piece from a higher tier brand, I would do it in a split second.

I have both the Rolex GMT and VC Overseas. Rolex is nice but VC is on a different level. The movements and finishes are impeccable. Not to mention the ease of changing the bracelet and 2 straps.

Not sure how much services cost, but VC has extended their warranty to 8 years from the date of purchase.

VC for versatility. Also the bracelet and finishing in on another level.

Ok.
You are talking about market value, or How the market values these two brands.
I’m agree with you.

But I’m still thinking that in a pure horological sense, VC and Rolex aren’t in the same league…

Correct Vacheron is far above Rolex. And if I can take a stupidly priced and inflated item and leverage it into something far better, I will do that all day long.

Having both GMT's; oyster Batman and jubilee Pepsi, along with the blue dial VC chrono, I would go with the VC.

Not to take anything away from the Rolex but the VC has so much more going for it. Keep your Panerai if you can too.

Congrats OP on the BLNR! Also that black dial VC dual time is going on my wish list; I had no idea it looked so great in the metal!

They are two watches that should not be placed on the same level.
Anyway Rolex.
