I was there at Banana Creek and was definitely a sight to see (and somewhat blinding).

Darn. Wanted to watch it but forgot to set my alarm. I'm sure it lit up the sky.

I am 60 miles away and it was bright.
Must have been something up close.

Set my alarm to watch it from my porch. But when the countdown ceased I went back to sleeping. I have a good view and the night time launches are amazing.

Hmmmm. It was launched by the night shift. I hear the day shift people were furious.

Later reports say that a late shift guy was eating lunch and put his feet up on the desk and accidentally hit the launch button.

I feel a conspiracy theory coming on.

Finely...
looked nominal.
As someone who personally worked for Rockwell International (my mother and uncle both worked there during the Apollo and STS programs), I am happy to finally going back to the Moon... and now that Kubrick is dead, no one can say it was faked.
