One-piece NATO "DIY" taper
Figured this might be the most appropriate place to post this
A few months ago I bought my first two C&B NATO straps for my Pelagos 39. The watch looks great while wearing the straps as single-pass, but I quickly started missing the tapering that the factory titanium/rubber bracelets have and that I've grown accustomed to on my other watches (G-Shock included). I initially figured getting a smaller strap (say, 18 mm or smaller) would bother me due to the lug gaps, but I've yet to get used to the uniform 21 mm width Has anyone had luck turning their NATOs from non-tapered to tapered? In theory I'm thinking of tracing the rubber strap over the NATO, cutting, and then passing a lighter over the edges, but as I'm typing this out I have a feeling this might sound better in my head than in reality (plus, there's the buckle and the rounded edges that are factory stitched) |

See if you can find someone with a laser machine, the cuts will be so much cleaner. I think the lighter trick will make it look mangled. You may also have some spacing oddness at the tang. Good luck.

Woven nylon doesn’t cut well on the bias as you mention in your post.
Sealing the edges is another issue since a lighter isn’t the way to go - just about impossible to seal the cut edges uniformly with a variable handheld flame. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
