How big is the demand for a watch rated for a lower depth than the lowest point on the planet?
Doubt that Rolex will build very many |

Any one hear of new challenge incomings? Has Rolex started shipping these to ADs again?

Any updates on seeing Deepsea Challenges delivered to customers? Any incomings I missed? Its still in Rolex's catalogue so one would assume they will resume production at some point.

when the beast was presented in November 2022, I went to an AD in Paris where I had already bought a Tudor and a Rolex, only one piece received from the Challenger was already reserved for one of their 'good' collector customers, I asked to be put on the waiting list and I was refused, a few months later in April 2023, I tried the request on the list again and always the same answer, Sir we have too much demand for very few pieces allocated. In August 2023, while traveling in the provinces, I entered an AD where I had bought another Rolex, Tudor, Longines, after several minutes of conversation, he came back with a Sub date + an LV + a Challenger.. we continue to exchange and the love at first sight that I had a few months earlier when I saw the Challenge happened again. I asked him if it was possible to be put on the list (I would like to point out that the 3 watches were already allocated. He replied, give me 1 hour, go for a walk, I'll check with my management and make a few calls. He called me back and 1 hour later I was the very happy owner of a Challenge. I went back 3 weeks ago (05/2024) to drop off a 16600 for servicing and since then not a single Challenge has entered the shop, it was the only Challenge there has been in the region in 17 months. |

Ha! You must be very young to the watch game or have a short memory. About a dozen years ago every bloke with 6.75 inch wrists was wearing a 50mm Hublot or a Panerai

The funny thing about this watch is that it has the makings of a true future collectible. I have been a watch lover and collector since I was a little and don’t care much for speculation because I like to wear my watches, and I buy what I like.
That said, this watch is destined for a very limited production run and because the current craze has trended downward from a size perspective, it may not be on the radar for many. Because it is a true marvel, coupled with what I mentioned above, I could really see this watch being a highly desired piece among collectors one day. Limited production and lack of initial interest seems to be the recipe. I don’t own one, but if offered at retail, I think I would have to buy one.

I love that there are people out there that appreciate and wear this watch. It’s so unique, so impractical (as a daily), and so cool. Do we have anyone here that has actually dived with it?
In ~2014 I randomly met 1 of the very few (4?) owners of the 2012 Deepsea Challenge who was wearing it in public. This model is steel, and its proportions aren’t quite as balanced as the latest model; a true beast of a dive watch. And yet the guy just liked to wear it, which was quite awesome to see. |

I like those who say it's easy to get it, they are often the ones who can't get it

There was a time when I had 4 Sea-Dwellers (126660 both black and D-blue, 126600, 116600, 16600), and share your enthusiasm for this line of dive watches. The new Deepsea Challenge is just awesome. Congrats again. |

I tried on an exhibition piece when they 1st came out and was impressed by the engineering, lightness and "make it because they can" attitude. But they're too much - both price and size for me however I did think briefly of asking an artist-fabricator friend if he could make a cool display stand and use one as a desk clock.

It sounds like Rolex failed the challenge if they aren’t shipping the watch.

Good news! Rolex started shipping this watch again. After almost 2 years, my AD got one, one. And I got the call. It’s an awesome piece and I will be wearing it, a lot!

Lots of big G-shocks out there. So plenty of people like big watches.
