Wedding Watch Gift tradition?
Was curious to know if a "wedding watch gift" from the bride to her husband was ever / is still considered a tradition these days?
If yes, any recommendations/experiences/stories that you'd like to share? |

Not sure about a tradition, but I got an Omega Seamaster to wear as an “engagement ring” in 2002, then a Rolex Explorer on my wedding day in 2004.
Still wear both regularly, and the Explorer hasn’t been serviced yet. |

I did buy one as a wedding gift but it was the other way around, from me to my wife.
If you’re going to do it all I would say is buy something you know your other half loves and has hopefully tried on in the past. The one I bought was the 26mm Rolex Datejust my wife loved it and wore it for years but now wears a much bigger watch. The wedding present lives in a drawer and for sentimental reasons she won’t part with it. Good luck if you go ahead with it because it’s a fantastic gesture from you. |

Back in the day If I recall correctly, I got a Quartz Seiko watch and was thrilled to get it. Times have changed!

Nowadays, I'm seeing in-laws gifting watches to their new son-in-law and gold jewelry to the bride on their wedding day. I've seen this multiple times within the Asian community.

My wife gave me my first Rolex as a wedding gift, circa 2010.

Your Rolex, given to you by your wife on such an important occasion, likely holds deep sentimental value and serves as a lasting reminder of your commitment and love for each other. It's a beautiful gesture that commemorates not only your wedding day but also the journey you've embarked on together.

While tourist shopping on our honeymoon in Jamaica in 1992 my bride bought me a Citizens Dual Time quartz watch on a leather strap. That was my "good" watch until receiving my Rolex for our 15 year anniversary.

My wife and i bought each other a watch for our wedding gifts.
I gave her a 31mm DJ with some diamonds on the dial for her first Rolex and i recieved a D-blue to go with the Black one that i already had. I had no idea that it was a tradition |
