My dad had rheumatic fever as a kid in the days before penicillin, necessitating a porcine valve replacement in his early 60s. When that one wore out he had a second valve replacement 15 years later, and lived until he was 98.

Sincere thanks everyone and apologies for not updating.

I had to have a TEE scope, then an angiogram, carotid artery ultrasound, and finally a chest X ray, all prior to my surgery, which is now actually tomorrow at 7 am (have to be there at 515am).

A tad nervous about all this but feeling all this love really calms me. Thanks again, and will be back with my A OK update next week
