The journey continues

I wanted to share my journey with you all as I've recently reached a milestone in my collection. It's been an exciting ride, filled with discoveries, appreciations, and a lot of wrist time.

Currently, my collection boasts a diverse range, with:

- 2 Datejusts
- 2 Day-Dates
- 2 GMTs
- 5 Submariners
- 1 Skydweller
- 1 Oyster Perpetual
- 1 Seadweller
- 1 Yacht Master
- 1 Audemars Piguet

Each watch tells a story, not just about the brand or the model, but about the moments and experiences it has been a part of. From the rugged reliability of the Submariners to the timeless elegance of the Datejusts, each piece holds a special place in my heart and my collection.

Now that I've amassed this impressive assortment, the question arises - what's next? Do I continue expanding horizontally, exploring new brands and models, or do I delve deeper vertically, perhaps focusing on a specific brand or complication?

I'm torn between the allure of discovering new treasures and the desire to deepen my understanding and appreciation of what I already have. Perhaps some of you seasoned collectors can offer guidance or share your own experiences of reaching this point in your collecting journey.

Regardless of what lies ahead, one thing is certain - the passion for watches will continue to drive me forward, seeking out new horological adventures and cherishing the memories they bring.

I'd love to hear your thoughts, advice, or even just your own collecting stories. Let's keep the conversation ticking!

Depends what your passion is? Do you mix up what you have with some more vintage pieces? Of course some of yours could already be vintage it would be interesting to know the ages of what you have .For me I’ve a liking for vintage Tudor subs with one of my favourites being the snowflake dials

Well, it’s a matter of all the DD’s Whte good? Any yellow or rose gold in collection?

Seems that it’s time for a great Patek, A Vacheron.

Congrats on the many, many watches.

Perhaps I'm an outlier, but why do watches always need to be so emotionally charged, and borderline sappy? My only explanation is marketing. Otherwise, how could Rolex charge 5-figures for a hunk of steel?

You already have far too many, in my opinion, I would purge and then add a nice Speedmaster.

That (to me) seems like an unusual collection.

Why no Daytona?

And if that's 'all' you have, as great as Rolex is, I would be enjoying other brands by now if I was lucky enough to be you!

Very nice collection. Tell us about which watch(es) you wear the most and what makes them special. I would adjust the collection and get rid of so many PM pieces. A lot of funds tied up and very much the same general look. So many other brands with outstanding watches that I would take the funds generated by sells or trades and look at going broader in the collection, not deeper.

Thank you for your compliment on my collection. The watches I find myself wearing the most are the Skydweller, Yacht Master, and Daydates. Each of these timepieces holds a special place in my heart for various reasons. The Skydweller, with its dual time zone function, is incredibly practical for my frequent travels, allowing me to easily keep track of time in different locations. The Yacht Master exudes a sense of luxury and sophistication, making it perfect for formal occasions or when I want to make a statement. And the Daydates, with their classic design and timeless appeal, are versatile enough to complement any outfit or setting.

Regarding your suggestion to adjust my collection, I appreciate your perspective. While I do have a number of PM pieces, I find that each one brings something unique to the table, whether it's in terms of design, complication, or sentimental value. However, I'm certainly open to exploring other brands and expanding my horizons. I believe that diversity in a watch collection can bring a richness and depth that enhances the overall experience. I'll definitely consider your advice and look into the possibility of diversifying my collection further. Thank you for your insight!

I've just never felt the urge to overpay for a Daytona. Rolex certainly has its appeal, but there are so many other amazing brands and models out there to explore. I'm always open to discovering new timepieces that speak to me, regardless of the brand.

Very nice. So everything you wear often is gold. Why not sell the SS pieces, and replace them with a gold Daytona?

I hear that you believe your collection to be diverse, but practically speaking, half are Rolex with the same black dial with round white indices. And redundant volume is, to me, not an important goal in watch collecting. So unless you prioritize black dial Rolex volume over all else, my vote is to consolidate. I’d keep the hulk, your stated favorites DD, SkyD and YM and move the rest to experience different models or brands.

Very nice, OP. With the funds it took to build that collection, I’d branch out to other brands that do great sports watches.

If I were in a position to buy multiple Sky Dwellers and Day Dates, I’d be looking at an Overseas or an Aquanaut, maybe with a GMT function.

A crazy number of watches which you will never have enough wrist time for. I would set the same rule as we have for my wife’s wardrobe - dispose of 3 for any new addition.

Great collection!

Do you feel having the Starbucks and Kermit in the same collection monotonous? Im lucky to own the Kermit and am contemplating asking my AD for a Starbucks. I already own the 124060 ND.

Having similar tastes can lead to a wonderful shared appreciation for timepieces. While both the Starbucks and Kermit are iconic in their own right,I personally wouldn’t buy the starbucks but, it ultimately depends on your personal preference and what speaks to you. If you admire both equally, having them in the same collection could provide a nice balance. But if you're concerned about monotony, perhaps exploring other unique references could add more diversity to your collection. It's all about what brings you joy and satisfaction in your collection!

Not sure why all the images are:

- from DavidSW's display images and not your actual collection
- why you state you have two GMT's, but the collated image shows three equal GMTs
- and a lot of other strange things

You state that you have "...recently reached a milestone in my collection...". What is the milestone?
