For the sports car enthusiast, there can only be one.
The Daytona. |

I think budget (and probably wrist size) is important to understand here.
For me, in order of Swiss Armyness, it would be: 1) VC 7900 or 7920v (just go grey and get a deal on the 7900v). Quick change strap system, flys under the radar, and just a beautiful piece. 2) Race car enthusiast: Daytona. Black dial for daily. If you have the budget, then I’d go WG on OF. |

If you’re going to be a cat be a wild one! Get the Daytona! Especially if that’s the one you want! There is no dress rehearsal in this thing called life!
Life is short, buy the watch. |

Is it possible to buy a 40mm Explorer 2 and swap out the band for the newer Rolex band that allows you to do micro adjustments? What sort of cost would that come with?

Because of your comments above, you really need to go with whatever watch speaks to you and not what speaks to me or any other person on TRF. Many have commented that a sub is the way to go but it appears it just doesn't speak to you. Which is totally fine. You really need to go with your heart no matter what others here say.
Just a comment. Have you checked out the new Tudor BB58 Coke GMT? How about the Tudor BB Opaline dial GMT? Not many of these in the wild and one of my favorites. You might want to consider either of these as well. However, if a Rolex is really what you are seeking, then find the one that speaks to you - no matter what brand you go with. |

Also look at SD4K.
Not in production anymore but they can be had in very good to excellent condition. Glidelock, 40mm-a little thick but wearable, IMO. If you don’t air travel much, I don’t see the point of a GMT although it’s kind of novel, I guess. |

Also, i own a few different references across a couple brands and would encourage you to consider a 39mm Explorer. It’s by far the most comfortable and do anything Rolex I own. |

At around $20k you can still find a Daytona 116520 probably in black, but the white is different. Another vote for Vacheron 4500v in silver or black.

I would go with the one that moved you the most when you tried it on and saw it for yourself. Because it’s going to be you smiling, whenever you glance for the time. Not us.

Agree with others on the sub or 16570 given your preference.
But I like my cars as well and say you go for the Daytona! Show us pics of the garage! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Get the Daytona. You seemed to like that one most but only having trouble getting over wearing a watch of that value daily. Trust me, you’ll get over that fast.
Just remember, hardly anyone will know what it is on your wrist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I just don't think I want to spend 20-30 on a watch to wear daily I don't think.
