Course, it could just be the camera angle or the lighting.

Wow, I can't beleive I've read this entire thread. Anyway, as was already stated, it looks fake. However, it's definitely worth a shot bringing into your local AD and having them check it over (the movement, etc.) just for the heck of it. Oh well, no matter how this turns out, I wish the OP the best of luck.

I have to ask you this. WHY? what aspects? considering its an 80's model...they are a bit more crude than current models...also the dial...not as clean as the newer dials...you OWN ONE SUB....how many 80's day-dates have you handled??? how many vintage serial numbers have you seen? also...most of the fakes...will have FLAT dials..there will be no beveled edge to the date or day window...his watch has theses features...another. the date font looks correct. as well as the magnification..the open 6 is correct. now...counterfeits then were not as good as they are NOW. and i must say....if you will have it...that most counterfeiters today are focused on CURRENT models and they are mass produced...so there is NO WAY you can say just by the photos...my tudor sub is a 1965...the serial no' and model number are not exactly centered...you gonna tell me mine is fake after it just got back from service??? and my uncles day-date..which is REAL...also an 80's model...when we took off the bracelet to clean it as I showed him how to really clean it well...there was build-up between where the lugs and bracelet met...looked like a bluish grey color..but washed away with the warm water.....i gotta be honest with you man...you are a new here...and you cant go and ask that someone introduce themselves immediately to a public forum..the question was valid..the photos were decent...and the OP should have been treated with a better response. this is a GOOD place...quit trying to be witty and if you have nothing to offer or any experience with the model..move along!!!!!!!!!!! and say nothing at all.

also..the dial...LOOK at those luminous markers...PATINA! how many fakes..with the low quality movements used..would last long enouhg to gain a true patina??? just another question...also..if gold plated...and that old of a fake...why isnt the gold worn off the bracelet? the gold plating on todays fakes are actually good...back then?? no way....wouldve faded and been gone by the time that patina wouldve showed up...and that movemement wouldve failed as well.

Now, on the motive, ostensibly, it was to ask the "experts" here the authenticity and value of a pictured watch. I still wonder what the real motive was. Was it to make fools of the "experts"? Or somebody just had so much idle time somewhere? |

Valentine I would like to comment on the reasoning some might think it is a fake and it is along the lines of you have to buy the seller not the watch. The OP has pulled this on other forums as found by kyle L and has been pointed out a couple of times now. I have no idea whether the watch is real or fake but I definitely feel that the OP is up to no good.

Fake or not, this guy was phishing. Scam artist would be my guess. This is not a court system. In the watch world, you are guilty until proven innocent. Kyle's super-sleuthing called him out on his scam. Notice that he posts no more after he was outed??
JMHO.

Every time the watch is proven fake or the guy gets no answer, he scrams off to another forum...
