I'm talking scratch!!

New watch, fresh out the box, your admiring it [when no ones looking

] what the "F" were did that come from then the soul searching , remorse and that sinking feeling. the first cut is always the deepest!, its now officially "in your mind" no longer on a pedistal, unsullied, pure its now just another POS!, lets strap up and "use it" it wasn't meant to sit in a nice box on your bedside table right??!! get over it!!

OK this isn't working im still gutted just scratched my daytona and im pi$$ed

lets hear your tales, come on guys cheer me up someone must of really screwed up there rolex over the years

I consider myself attentive when it comes to wearing my watch in somuch that I will pull it off my wrist when reaching my hand down into an engine compartment or such. One day I was working in the yard and carrying stuff out to the curb and wearing my SD, as I was walking back to get more I looked down to see what time it was getting to be and how dirty the watch was getting. I had a fit! I'd put one heck of a deep scuff/scratch on the clasp althought the watch it's self was untouched. I sucked it up saying to myself oh well had to happen one day and today was it!

My recent troubles included a casual contact with what I thought was my wife's hand. It turnred out I'd caught her ring with the crystal of my watch. The result was a scratch on the surface of the glass.

Fortunately I managed to get a new one fitted in two days and I did not have to have a service done.

Well lost a SD diving in the Red Sea a few years ago,but apart from that
just the normal scratches of everyday life,dont baby any of my watches.

I've managed to get a few minor scratches on the gold part of my TT Blue YM and that hurts.....real bad!!

The first scratch happens and I probably noticed it, but forgot it very soon as I wear my watches and try not to baby or beat them.

I've never even looked for scratches on any of my watches. Some of them are "previously worn" pieces. I would expect them to have some wear and tear showing on them. But I don't even notice them. I guess that's not important enough for me to worry about.

Yes Aaron trying to get back into the zodiac,taking my BC of, but stupid
Egyptian deck hand,pulled it before it was off. And one of nylon rings caught
on my SD so I was hanging by my watch,think spring-bar snapped good job
it did with the sea swell might have been my wrist instead.It was insured got
a replacement a few months after.

Many of you have seen how I wear my watches

I just took a close look at my GMT (which I am wearing now), have worn it all weekend, and wear it just like in the photo 85% of the time, and have not noticed a single scratch or nick due to the bracelet. That's a Rolex for you - tough as nails and virtually scratchproof.

Here's my daily-wear SD and its predecessor:

There's a story behind each scratch on the Seiko, acquired over 17 years of daily use; this scratch was from the door sill of a chopper I was exiting, these ones were from crawling through gravel with an 84mm recoilless rifle, etc.

Scratches to me are part of the watch's character and tell a story of where it's been with me. So far I haven't acquired any interesting scratch stories with the SD, but I think it's only a matter of time.

Thats mainly because gold is a softer metal than S.Steel .

Cape cod is ok for light scratches,only on the polished sides, dont use on
Oyster S.Seel bracelet.A scotchbrite pad is fine for that, to get scratches
out,try and work one way only on bracelet and clasp.
