Upto R Series or 1990 Cases of Original Rolex/Tudor watch cases have Flat Top "A"..++

Err...or Slightly Rounded TOP "A"...
of "STAINLESS STEEL" or SS engraving...
between the lugs at 6 o'clock...

LIKE THIS particular one...of R Series...

Orchi believes also...
thereafter...from L Series or E Series...
or from...Early 1990s or so...onwards...
CASES of Original Rolex watches...
have POINTY ARROW SHARP TOP "A"...

LIKE THIS particular one...of E Series cases...
(Pic courtesy of eBay)

n THIS particular one...of S Series cases...

ON THE OTHER HAND...
Orchi wishes hopefully...
to share the following with the other Novice Rolex/Tudor Collectors...
in TRF...

These are from Orchi's own study of Rolex or Tudor cases...
that would have the Original FLAT TOP "A" font...
or Slightly Rounded TOP "A" font engraving...
of "STAINLESS STEEL" or SS engraving...
between the lugs at 6 o'clock...
from say Early 1960s...
perhaps LATE Half of Rolex's 6 digits Case Series...
OR...from Middle 1960s from 1.0 million cases...
until...R Series cases...or so.

8.6 mil case...with Slightly FLAT or Rounded TOP "A" font engraving...

n Another...

8.40 mil case...with Slightly FLAT or Rounded TOP "A" font engraving...

5.6 mil case...with FLAT TOP "A" font engraving...

3.18 mil case...with Slight FLAT or Rounded TOP "A" font engraving...

2.99 mil case...with Slightly FLAT or Rounded TOP "A" font engraving...

1.8 mil case...with FLAT TOP "A" font engraving...

HERE are examples of 70s ORIGINAL Case of a Tudor watches...
with FLAT TOP "A" font engraving between the lugs...

846,xxx case...

776,xxx case...Tudor 7169/0 MC...
(Pic from eBay)

1.3 mil case...with Slight FLAT or Rounded TOP "A" font engraving...
(Pic courtesy of eBay)

n Another...

1.19 mil case...with Slightly Flat or Rounded TOP "A" font engraving...

Having the above said n done...HOWEVER...
Orchi also believes that between the Earliest Rolex case series...
n UNTIL R Series cases or so...
that were engraved with "STAINLESS STEEL" marking...
(some were NOT engraved with "STAINLESS STEEL" marking...

there should NOT be Any "STAINLESS STEEL" fonts engraving
between the lugs at 6 o'clock...
that contain...the POINTY SHARP TOP "A" font engraving...

IF Found to be SO...the watch case could be a LATER Rolex Service cases...

The above is Orchi's belated response to this particular thread posted in VRF...
by Buddy Jim...Goldrush3ubn...
on the other day...August 19, 2010...
WHERE strangely...
NOBODY in VRF seemed to have offered any response...

LAST but NOT least...
PLEASE AVOID ANY Rolex or TUDOR watches cases...
found to have...the LOOOONG MIDDLE Stroke of "E" font engraving...
between the case lugs...

Humbly Yours n,

Best regards,
Orchi.

P/S: Ooops...whilst Orchi posts in a rush...
between sleepless hours...
IF Orchi may humbly suggests to ALL fellow Novices...
n Newbies...
to check the engraving "A" font between the lugs...
on your Rolex n Tudor watch collections...

Orchi hopes also this thread posting can be made a Sticky in the appropriate forum...

The related thread has been posted in the VRF also...

buddy Orchi, I have read your informative thread quite a few times and have bookmarked it for future reference. IMO it should be made a "sticky" and have requested that it is.

I have found a lot of people on TRF read, and don't always post a response, often myself included, This is a great forum for learning and your threads, without exception, provide us with that opportunity.........

X2

First thing I did after reading was check the A on my 3.5 1655 (had already checked the Es).
