1st Rolex watch in my life
Hi everyone, this is my first post.
I know this sound silly, and not a big deal for many of you, but for me this is my first Rolex watch. I rewarded myself for my hardwork with this watch, I felt like it is an accomplishment. I wanted one for years. Bought this 2 days ago at authorized Rolex dealer in Japan. New Rolex Datejust with computer dial. Purchased at Jackroad in Tokyo, one of biggest authorized Rolex dealer in Japan. I have a few questions concerning this watch. The case is suppose to be 36mm, where do you measure it? The reference# is 116200. It is tiny compare to my Tag Carrera Chronograph. Is it ok to replace the bezel with white gold bezel? Is this process highly difficult? This is not my pic, but my watch is the exactly the same. My camera doesn't do the watch justice. |

Welcome to TRF your watch measurement is across the watch though the date and nine to edge of case but excluding the crown.Nice looking Rolex classic, regarding changing the bezel. Now it could be done if you could source one,but my advise is to leave it as it is.Its a SS model and places like Rolex USA could refuse to service it if not original part to the model number. But a bezel change is quite a simple job to do.

Thanks for the feedback. I am so used to wearing big watches. For a bit I was wondering if I bought the intermediate model at 31mm.
I just measured the case, it is 1.4 inches, 35.6mm, does this sound correct. Kinda wish it were 40mm. |

Well the next one down is the OP at 34mm what some state as the boy size, the DJ 36mm or very close. The DJ is quite a different watch from 40mm or over sports or chronograph, but a great classic Rolex.

Welcome to TRF....that's one good looking watch. Yes, the case does measure 36 mm across....say from '2' to '8'.

I did purchased the genuine white gold bezel already. I didn't know you could get the white gold bezel with the oyster bracelet. It actually only cost $400 more. My mistake, if I had knew I would had bought that one. What if I have it installed by authorized dealer and keep my original bezel? would that be ok? I really like this look. |

Welcome to TRF and congratulations on a great watch I don't know if the AD will switch the bezels up for you. It may cause some confusion and contradict the watches serial number But, it's worth a shot. They may even exchange your watch for the exact one you want if it's still brand new and in perfect, showcase condition

I love the smooth bezel too. I would never buy one with a fluted bezel. Just my 2 cents.

Welcome, it all comes down to preference. The white gold jubilee band would compliment your jubilee dial. Light bounces all over the fluted jubilee bezel that gives it just the right amount of bling yet understated.

"I'm confused a bit here....I thought the new DJs had RED and BLACK dates - RED for ODD dates and BLACK for EVEN dates. So how come that '1' being an ODD date is still in BLACK? Shouldn't it be RED?" -JJ
