Genuine and Fake laser etching!!

Some of you guys may know this, but I thought I'd share this for everyone's benefit.

On the left you have a highly magnified image of a genuine laser etching....note the larger 'balls' on the top of the coronet. On the right you have a fake one...note the small 'balls' on top.

Cheers - JJ

The precident has been set. It's too late.

BTW JJ, that is a good point to make. Just because a watch has a laser etching doesn't guarentee it's genuine. Either always buy from an AD or, ask the vendor to accompany you, with said watch, to an AD for their inspection and approval.

Well said, Johnny.

Seems like those are the only TWO options. You can't even trust a 'friend' any longer 'cause the chances are that he may have been unknowingly (to him) have been cheated.

Take the classic example of our very own Padi who almost purchased a TT Blue Sub from a good friend whom he could trust. Fortunately, Padi took off the bracelet to check the serial no. and found that no. to be on the '12' side of the watch instead of the '6' side where it normally should be.

That move saved his ass!! AD is the BEST way to go...no other!!

And my friend Pat McCarthy at our sister ship.... he won a Sub in a company competition only to find out that while it had Rolex OEM bracelet and dial, the movement was an ETA. The guy at his company running the competition tried to save a few bob by buying through a 'reputable' online dealer.

You never know.

Isn't Pat the guy who loves Invictas? LOL! I guess next to an Invicta, even a fake Rolex would stand out!!!!

You know with this bird flu thing that has started in Hong Kong and China, and most of the fake watches come from there. Does God hate fakes too?

Gotta tell you though, the coronet is so small, this is not the first place I would check to see if it was the real deal.

True, but you must also bear in mind that that would be one of the most difficult things to fake to absolute perfection....hence the post!!
