Only downside is that you help contribute to the seedy industry of counterfeits.

I once bought a Daytona and a Sub lookalike Toywatch to have a trial of if I would like the real thing.

The replica or "tribute" watch is not a bad idea, but there are ways around actually supporting the counterfeit market. The Sub for example, has been essentially knocked-off by many mainstream watch companies. They do not falsify the Rolex labeling or anything but there is no mistaken that many name brand watches are made to resemble the Sub and the Oyster bracelet.
