New Member Intro - Vintage question

I introduced myself yesterday on the Rolex side, and figured I would do the same today for Omega. Name in Ted, 33 years old and live in San Diego, CA. Here is my collection... I seem to prefer vintage over new. I have acquired these 2 vintage Omega pieces, anything you can tell me about them would be helpful. I have tried to find info on them, or similar watches on the net, but haven't come up with too much. Thanks in advance for any info! Look forward to being able to contribute to this forum in the future.

Nice collection. Others may have info on the vintage ones. I think you need a speedy pro in your line up!

The SMP looks like a 2254, had one just like it and still regret selling it, is it a quartz or an automatic? The other looks like a DeVille, can't quite make it out but if you know the reference number you can look it up on their site.

I am really curious about the vintage ones. Both of the vintage are manual, should have said that. The second one is a DeVille, but I can't find much more on it. I have no idea what the first one is. The Seamaster is quartz that I got new.

Best thing to do is take them to a competent watchmaker and have him remove the case back. The ref # will be stamped on the inside of the case back and the caliber and serial # will be stamped on the movement. You can date the production of the movements based on the serial # (google 'omega serial # by year'). He can tell you if movement requires cleaning and service.

Wal-mart sells a tool for $5 which allows you to remove the case back. There's a sticky here with a rundown of what the numbers mean and year.

Omega Database

The online Omega site has a "Vintage Watches database"
Type in the reference number on the back of your case back and you can find out all about your vintage Omegas.
I keep that site bookmarked on my computer-great resource for Omega collectors
